SK Alagbada (born November 3, 1986) is a Nigerian-American tech professional, businessman, and season 3 cast member on Netflix’s Love is Blind. SK is currently attaining his MBA at the HAAS School of Business at the University of California, Berkley.
Early Life and Career
Alagbada is a member of the Yoruba tribe and was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. His parents reign from Ibadan, a city in the southwestern part of Nigeria. SK’s father passed away when he was young, while his mother is currently living in the United States.
During his time in Nigeria, SK pursued his higher education at the University of Ibadan as a medical student. He left the University of Ibadan in 2007 as a result of a major strike that was occurring at the University. After spending a year in medical school, he moved to Bydgoszcz, Poland, receiving a scholarship through ASEC – a foreign exchange program. In Poland, he worked as a high school teacher before transitioning into the private sector and working at a Polish bank.
In 2009, Alagbada made his entrance into Texas and settled in the city of Houston. He then attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in 2014. He moved to Austin after graduation from Baylor and became a data engineer at General Motors. After his time at GM, he started working as a senior data engineer at JP Morgan.
Education & Professional Pursuits
Alagbada had a yearning to bridge his interests in connecting silicon Valley to Africa’s emerging tech ecosystem, fittingly so, he moved to the Bay Area of California to pursue his vision.
In 2021, he began his MBA at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkley as a Consortium Fellow on a merit scholarship. His academic pursuits have been focused on VC (venture capitalism) and entrepreneurship.
During his time at HAAS, he has also had the opportunity to solidify his interests in tech while leading other colleagues toward their professional goals. He is the co-president of the African business club – and also runs UC LAUNCH (University of CAL, Berkely-based accelerator program for startups in the CAL system). Alagbada is also a form + fund fellow – a program designed by Berkley law for emerging founders. Alagbada is expected to complete the MBA program at the HAAS School of Business in 2023.
